The Facebook Car

Someone just loved that Facebook so much, they had their ride all tricked out in Facebook-adoring graphics. I can't imagine liking a website - any website - so much that I'd actually pay money to have it detailed to resemble it.

But hey, it's a free world, or so I like to pretend.

I found this gem on another website that I don't particularly care for - People of Walmart, a place where people surreptitiously take pictures of other people shopping, then post them to the web and make fun of their weight, their attire, their sexual preference, their social status, etc. (That's not to say I didn't chuckle hard at some of the stuff on there, but funny or not, I'd still love to see sites like this get shut down forever.)

But the case of the Facebookmobile doesn't end there: I also found another picture of it on Craziest Gadgets.

The People of Wal-Mart site, whose content is mostly user-submitted, lists this photo as having been taken in Kentucky. Has anyone else seen this thing out there on the road?

Skinmobile

Spotted this truck in Butchertown. I wonder if the "skin" tag (heh) was placed there deliberately by its owner, or if some vandal (excuse me, I mean "urban meme artist") just tagged it randomly.

Hopefully it's the former, in the tradition of graffiti vehicles like "Gold Teef", "GNAR", and "I Love Earth".

The Pipmobile

Pimp my ride? How about Pip my ride?

Perpetually parked outside Louisville's 21c Museum is the "Pipmobile", a 1995 Lincoln Towne Car stretch limousine completely encrusted from stem to stern with those little round globby pieces of glass you find at craft stores.


Why? Well, because it's art, man. Says so here. According to the artist's statement of creator Monica Mahoney, the gluing of the glass globs was done to make the car "resemble the interior of a pomegranate".

Alrighty then.

Sports Hearse

Play it Again Sports in St. Matthews, KY has a hearse as their official car. I don't know why. Doesn't seem the right message to send for a fitness-themed place. The slogan on the door reads "killing our competitors prices", but I think they just came up with that to fit the hearse, not the other way around.

Rodentmobile

The Truly Nolen pest control company has a delightful car mascot: a Volkswagen Bug, tricked out to resemble a mouse with a tail and a pair of decidedly Mickey-esque ears. Thanks to our friend Ellen Bush in Lexington for the photo!

Rand Paul Art Car

This text-laden art car (from someone with the Rand Paul campaign) is about as easy to read as a bottle of Dr. Bronner's. Spotted at Fancy Farm's 2009 Picnic.

GWAR car?

You know, in the Weird Kentucky book I referred to this as a GWAR car (you know, the insane blood-splattering metal band?).... but now I wonder if it doesn't actually say "GNAR"?

"I Love Earth"

It looks like it was done by a dying man fingerpainting in his own blood as his final goodbye message, but I'm pretty sure this says "I love Earth".

Earth's okay, I guess, if you've never been to the Pleiades. It's hard as hell to get a decent egg cream there though.
